The Ondo State Police Command, on Wednesday, said it had arrested no fewer than 14 people in connection with the cult clashes, which occurred in Ondo town, Ondo State, on Friday last week and Sunday.
Nine persons reportedly lost their lives while several others sustained injuries during the clashes of suspected members of rival cult groups.
It was learnt that the clashes were between cult groups known as Afee Cult and Eiye Confraternity.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, Mr. Femi Joseph, who spoke with our correspondent on Wednesday, said all the suspects would be prosecuted.
Joseph did not disclose the names of the suspects but said they (suspects) were arrested at various locations in Ondo town after the incidents.
He said, “We have so far arrested about 14 people; we are still arresting and we will continue to arrest them until we arrest all of them. We are preparing to take them to court.”
The PPRO added that the men of the command had been deployed in the town to flush out the hoodlums.
He, however, denied reports that the command lost some of its officers to the clashes, saying, “None of our officers and men died in the clashes.”
