PORT HARCOURT— Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has commenced an internal anti-graft war to rid the commission of corrupt elements.
Managing Director of the commission, Mr Nsima Ekere, disclosed this yesterday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, while setting up a six- man committee to thoroughly investigate allegations of corruption against the institution.
Ekere said he was disturbed by the allegations, stressing that the committee, which is headed by the Director, Special Duties, Dr Princewill Ekanem, will hold what he called investigative hearing for contractors and others with evidence of corruption in the commission.
He said the committee had two weeks to deliver its report, adding that it should work with civil society organisations and the media to enhance its credibility.
His words: “It is imperative and urgent for the commission to find out what is true and what is not true about the allegations, in order to immediately tackle them.”
