OWERRI —The Force Education Officer, FEO, of the Nigeria Police, Mr. Rabiu Ladodo, was yesterday,  confronted with complaints  that one of the teachers in Police Children’s School, Owerri, Mrs. Fidelia Oluigbo, has stagnated on Level 3 for 17 years.

Mrs. Oluigbo, who held back tears as she narrated her plight when Ladodo paid an official visit to the school, also disclosed that she was due for retirement in no distant time.

“I have diligently served for 17 years but sadly allowed to languish on Level 3. I am a widow and hold NCE certificate. This cannot be the best treatment I can get from my employer and government,” Oluigbo lamented.

In her address, the school’s Head Teacher, Mrs. Margaret Obiajunwa, called for the conversion of their valuable temporary staff to permanent staff.

She said: “Other problems include non-regularization of Levels 7 and 8 staff, welfare for bereaved staff, release of the completed regularization exercise, financial arrears of promotion and the release of November 2016 promotion interview for staff on Levels 6 to 13.”

The Head Teacher equally reminded the FEO that the school needed cleaners and gardeners, adding that of the initial 14 cleaners and gardeners, nine had retired with one dead.

Responding, the FEO promised that he would take up staff welfare issues with the appropriate quarters, when he gets back to Abuja.

On the report that no benefits had been paid to the next of kin of a dead staff, Ladodo pleaded with workers to properly document their records.
