Kano Pillars Football Club on Sunday defeated visiting Enyimba International FC of Aba 3-1 in a 2016/2017 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Match Day 12 fixture played in Kano.‎

The match was watched by a large number of spectators at the 18,000-capacity Sani Abacha Stadium.‎

The home team took advantage of the massive support and dominated most parts of the encounter, but fell short of converting many goal scoring chances in the process.

Kabiru Balogun opened scoring in the 24th minute through a free kick and doubled the lead in the 60th minute after beating the offside trap.

Stephen Chukwude cut the hosts’ lead through a penalty kick in the 69th minute when Udoji Chinedu handled the ball in the penalty area.

But Gambo Muhammad restored the hosts’ two-goal lead by making it 3-1 in stoppage time.‎

Speaking later, Enyimba’s coach Gbenga Ogunbote told newsmen he was satisfied with the match’s outcome in spite of the defeat.
