Uyo—As the tussle over who occupies the Uyo Senatorial seat (Akwa Ibom North-East) in the Senate rages, a socio-political group, Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District Elders Forum, ANSDEF, has petitioned the Nigerian Judicial Council, NJC, seeking the enforcement of the judgment of a Federal High Court sitting in Uyo, which nullified the election of Senator Bassey Albert.
ANSDEF leaders, Elder Idorenyin Jacob and John Edet Ekanem, in the petition, alleged that Senator Albert was bent on using abuse of court process to upturn the judgment.
Reacting also, Akwa Ibom North-East Elders Forum, ANEEF, said that the embattled Senator Albert has been trying to upturn the judgment of the high court by approaching another Federal High Court, Abuja, which it noted, has a concurrent jurisdiction with the Federal High Court, Uyo.
It said: “Rather than go to the Appeal Court to contest the case, the embattled Senator has chosen to go to another high court of similar jurisdiction to thwart the case that has already been decided by another high court of similar jurisdiction.”
