    Metaphor of illegal refineries

The formulators of our national policies must be among the most gifted clowns! They find it difficult to distinguish national interests and idleness. At a point in our history, government placed a blanket ban on Ogogoro, “illicit gin”, thus boosting the market for the imported gin. This boosted the economy of the gin producing nations. It took the dare-devilry of the late Dr. Tai Solarin, who took to the streets of Lagos, hawking the bottles of Ogogoro, to restore sanity! And, illicit gin was legalised!

Now, “illegal refineries”, in the creeks of Niger Delta are destroyed, while billions of dollars are spent on importing refined crude oil, which we exported out.

Please, can we have a thinking cap on, and remodify the multiplicity of “illegal refineries, to save hard earned currency? Is another Solarin needed?
