The Independent National Electoral Commission has raised the alarm over illegal registration of voters in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
The state Head of Publicity and Protocol, INEC, Femi Akinbiyi, said in a statement that the registration of voters had not started in the state.
It said, “It has come to the notice of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Lagos State Office, that some unscrupulous elements in the society have been engaging in illegal registration of voters in Ikorodu Local Government Area of Lagos State.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the state has not commenced registration of voters in any part of the state. Appropriate notice will be issued to the general public when the registration commences.”
According to the commission, law enforcement agencies have been informed of ‘the ugly development’ with a view to apprehending the perpetrators.
