Kano Pillars coach Kadiri Ikhana on Wednesday praised his team for beating visiting Wikki Tourists 1-0 in a rescheduled Premier League match at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.
Ikhana told reporters after the game that he was very happy with the outcome of the match in spite of the slim win.
“I am happy that the players were able to win the match in spite of fatigue,” the News Agency of Nigeria quoted the ex-international as saying.
The former Enyimba manager admitted that his players made some mistakes which the visiting team could have capitalised on to turn the table against them.
Pillars midfielder Alhassan Ibrahim scored the only goal of the game in the 35th minute from a corner-kick.
The home side had several goal scoring chances but could not extend their lead, as the visiting side’s defenders were able to stop them.
Wikki Tourists coach Babaganaru Muhammad told reporters that he was satisfied with the match’s outcome, in spite of the Bauchi team’s defeat.
He expressed his satisfaction with how his team played.
Babaganaru said, “Although we lost the match, I can say that my boys played well.’’
