Odion Ighalo continued his poor start to life in China on Sunday as he missed a penalty for Changchun Yatai in their Chinese Super League match against Guangzhou R&F.

Guangzhou R&F won the encounter 1-0. The former Watford striker was starting his second game for his new side after completing a £20m move from Vicarage Road on transfer deadline day.

There were 67 minutes on the clock when Ighalo was given the opportunity to put Yatai in the lead at Guangzhou R&F in the Chinese Super League, but he didn’t take up that chance.

Guangzhou keeper Cheng Yuele guessed the right way and pushed Ighalo’s effort away.

To make matters worse, just three minutes later, Brazilian midfielder Junior Urso gave the hosts the lead and consigned Ighalo’s side to their second successive defeat.

The Nigerian captains the side and they went down to Shanghai SIPG 5-1 in their opening game last week.
