Olusola Fabiyi, Abuja
A former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olisa Metuh, said in Abuja on Wednesday that armed men suspected to be assassins invaded his home in Abuja on Tuesday night.
The house is located at Prince and Princess Estate.
Special Assistant to Metuh, Mr. Richard Ihediwa, in a statement on Wednesday said the armed men, numbering about eight, fired shots and entered into the compound after destroying the security fence.
He said the invaders tied up security guards and a driver on the premises and attempted to gain access into the main building but were prevented by security doors.
Ihediwa said, “When they could not gain access into the main building, they beat up the security guards and ordered them at gunpoint to call Metuh using their phones, but the guards insisted that he was not at home but had travelled to the east.
He added that Metuh had made an official report to the police.
The police could not be reached for comment. The Federal Capital Territory Police Command spokesman, Manzah Anjuguri, did not respond to calls and he had yet to reply to an SMS as of the time of filing this report.
