The Pere of Gbaramatu has appealed to the entire Kunukunuma federated communities to suspend its planned shutdown of Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) operation.
The protest had been scheduled to hold this Friday, March 10, 2017 at Odidi field, Delta State.
The Pere of Gbaramatu, who spoke through his Spokesperson, Godspower Gbenekama, said: “We appeal to the Kunukunuma Federated communities to suspend their planned protest against NPDC at the Odidi field slated for the 10th of this month.
“This is because the Pere has waded into the matter and also set up a committee headed by Chief Philip Tonfawei to look into their issues and also engage the company to ensure that there is lasting peace in the kingdom.”
Godspower Gbenekama, who is also the Ibe-Benemowei of Gbaramatu kingdom, said, the appeal became necessary to avert crisis in his kingdom.
“The Pere would also want the company to look at the merit of their demands and do the needful, as development of the communities they operate is their cooperate social responsibility.”
