The Nigerian Air Force says it has commenced training of 30 new pilots to handle the Super Mushshak, a fighter jet that will be deployed to combat the Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East region.
Our correspondent learnt that the NAF inducted the Super Mushshak into its inventory in December 2016 to address the challenges of insurgency, having procured the fighter jets from Pakistan.
The NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Group Captain Ayodele Famuyiwa, said in a statement on Friday said, “The training is part of the Chief of Air Staff’s effort to reposition the force through capacity building initiatives. The NAF graduated the first set of Super Mushshak instructor pilots.
“Now, 30 officers have already been selected to commence training with the instructor pilots. This will impact positively on operational effectiveness in the fight against insurgency and other criminalities within the country.
