The Osun State Government has imposed a curfew on Ile Ife after a clash between Hausa and Yoruba youths left several people dead and many injured.

According to the government, the 6pm to 7am curfew, which was announced on the Osun State Broadcasting Corpration Television on Wednesday evening, is meant to prevent hoodlums from using the cover of darkness to attack innocent people.

During the clash, several vehicles were burnt, while houses and shops were set ablazewhile some other, forcing many residents to desert their homes.

It was gathered that the clash was the fallout of a dispute between a Hausa man and a Yoruba woman on Tuesday evening.

As a result of the clash, banks and shops in the area were forced to send customers away and close their doors.
