Security operatives must always be disciplined, respect the rule of law and give priority to professionalism while discharging their duties, says the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode.

The governor spoke on Saturday at the passing out ceremony of 487 newly-graduated cadet officers of the Department of State Services Academy, Basic Course 29/2016, in the Ojo Local Government Area of the state.

Ambode, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr Idiat Adebule, noted that by obeying the law, the personnel were using their professional training to strengthen democratic institutions and guarantee security of lives and property.

The governor said, “Huge resources have been committed to training and retraining of security personnel to ensure that they are in tune with the modern technology-driven security management. So, security agents in the country must justify government’s investment by putting security challenges facing the country to an end.”

While reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the security of lives and property of Lagos residents, the governor said the government would continue to support security agencies in the state in the discharge of their duties.

The Director General, DSS, Mr. Lawal Daura, said men and officers of various forces in the country had been working together in unity to tackle some of the security challenges facing the country.

He said, “The relationship has helped us to save the country from the menace of Boko Haram and other insurgencies. The Federal Government will continue to provide basic incentives and good conditions of service to enhance greater productivity.”
